How Certification Works

From Decision to
Certificate

NSCA certification exams are based on a job-task analysis of what it takes to be competent in a specific role. They measure your knowledge, skills, and abilities against a defined level of competence — not recall of textbook information. Before you begin, make sure you've chosen the right certification for you.

A. What will you train?

Look at the typical training a certified individual provides — it points to the people you'll work with and your likely job settings.

B. What's your background?

Each certification requires a certain level of education, and some require industry experience, before you're eligible to sit for the exam.

C. What's on the exam?

Each exam tests the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the role. All NSCA exams are NCCA-accredited and require real study.
